Yes you can, this will keep your tiles and floor warmer underfeet. the board will insullate the cold of the concrete floor away from your feet, and if you decide to also add undertile following then will be onto on the tilebacker board and under the tile and all the heat will be directed through the tile instead of down into the concrete.

Taping gives a stronger and more water tight finish and allows for movment of the building. Using adhesive alone you are relying that you get ever mm and dont miss anywhere and as you know many adhesives and sealeant can breakdown over time, with the tape you can see where you have been and you dont miss any joins and will not breakdown. Using the paint on sealent as well as the tape also allows you o get lots of additional sealent into all the nucks and crannies and allow larger gaps to be filled and covered with the tape.

there shouldnt be any issue at all, all the weight of a wall hung toilet is taken by the frame and the any leaverage on the toilet pushes again the frame, the boards and tiles and fixed to the frame and shouldnt flex as the frame supports the boards where the toilet touches. We have a wallhun toilet installed in our showroom with only part covered in boards alone to show the steps on installation of a wall hung toilet and taking a room and the board is fine, it also recieved more "traffic" (people sittin on it) than a normal houshold toilet.

Qboard appears to be a BNQ own brand product. We have not used these product to be able to compair. The information on their site appears to be laking information regarding the weight bearing load and other information to do a side by side comparison.

You've probably done the job by now, but I noticed a massive difference in flexing between the 10mm Q boards and the 12mm Jackoboards and Elements boards.

@@mikey_3033 you may have purchased a single colour head rather than a colour changing (chronotherapy) head. There are also thermostatic ones available that change from blue to red with temperature.

@@mikey_3033 some thermostatic head are blue when cold, green when safe, red one hot. Maybe you have a thermostatic one (safety) and stays on green as its safe. Try setting to hot and see if it goes red.

Did we use tools?? If you want to take the old one off then you may need tools depending on the existing rail. But if you don't have access to tools, or a handy person, or you are in a rented building and do not want or can't remove the existing holder. This product is perfect.

No the tray is not tileable its a a low level grey slate effect tray, simply tile u pto the tray. This shows a super low install onto joists to sink the tray lower to give a low level wetroom effect.

@@Participant616 yes so in this case above method you mention, you would not install to joists you would install on floor level. How ever if you were to over ply the floor and install click flooring this would be level. This video shows as the deception and title "How to install a shower tray onto joists". There are many videos showing how to install a tray onto the floor, but not onto joists.

yes you can waterproof and tank you bathroom with these board before using PVC cladding or wall boards. However silicone wouldn't be right for adhesive, you would be better with something like Everbuild Multi Stick as it gives a better fix on concrete based boards.

Adding these board under tiles or floor will indeed help with insulation and thermal properties of your home. If you are installaing this on a concrete floor then the mechanical fixings are not required (only required on wooden floors) and if the room is not a wetroom room or wet area, then you do not need to seal the joints against water ingress. These boards are also perfect for adding underfloor heating on top of if you choose to do this at the same time.
